Hey! I'm Erin, a wedding and elopement photographer who has been shooting on Cape Cod for over a decade. Big beach club weddings at Wychmere, two-person vows on the sand at Marconi Beach, and every hydrangea-lined celebration in between. I split my time between Boston and the Cape all season long, which means no travel fees, no "which beach is that again?" and a photographer who already knows where the light lands at 7pm in July.

When Leah and George wanted their session on the Cape Cod National Seashore, we started at golden hour on the dunes and ended under the Milky Way on the beach. No plan B, no rushing. - June through September is classic Cape Cod: warm water, hydrangeas, long golden hours. May and October are my secret favorites. Fewer crowds, softer light, easier parking, and the beaches are basically yours. Off-season elopements in the dunes are moody, empty, and stunning.
- Beach club or National Seashore? A venue like Wychmere handles the ceremony, reception, and rain plan in one place. For elopements, the Cape Cod National Seashore has a list of approved ceremony sites including Marconi Beach, Coast Guard Beach, Nauset Light Beach, Race Point, and Herring Cove. Town beaches each have their own rules. I help you match the spot to your guest count and the light.
- Ceremonies inside the Cape Cod National Seashore need a special use permit from the National Park Service. The application fee is $50, plan on at least two weeks for processing, and keep it simple: no tents, no amplified music, no confetti, and no drones. Town-owned beaches are handled through the individual town. I've done this many times and will point you to the right office.
- Apply together at any Massachusetts city or town clerk's office (it does not have to be on the Cape) and file your marriage intention. There's a three-day waiting period that a judge can waive with a Marriage Without Delay form, and the license is valid for 60 days. Out-of-state couples do this all the time. Bring a photo ID and, if you've been married before, the date your last marriage ended.
- For elopement couples I officiate at no extra charge, so you don't need to find or pay a separate officiant. If you'd rather have a friend do it, Massachusetts offers a $25 one-day designation so they can legally marry you. For full weddings I'm happy to recommend officiants I love working with.
- Cape Cod sunrise is quiet and empty, even in August. Sunset on the bay side (think Rock Harbor or Mayflower Beach) is a showstopper. The ocean side (Nauset, Marconi) is best at golden hour with the dunes glowing behind you. I build every timeline around this.
How to Get Married on Cape Cod
The Game Plan

- A private beach on Nantucket Sound, a hydrangea front lawn, a rooftop deck over the harbor, and two ballrooms for the rain plan. The venue I love working at most on the Cape. Full wedding coverage lives here.
- A historic inn on the Upper Cape with gardens, a lawn for the ceremony, and a restaurant that makes the reception feel like the best dinner party you have ever been to. Closest of my Cape venues to Boston.

- Iconic red-and-white lighthouse, Atlantic surf, approved ceremony sites. Great for elopements with a handful of guests.
- Endless sand at the very tip of the Cape, sunset over the water (rare on the East Coast), and Provincetown's restaurants for dinner after. Very LGBTQ+ friendly, which matters to me.
- Chatham Lighthouse, Lighthouse Beach, and a Main Street built for portraits. Elegant, classic Cape.
- The boardwalk over the marsh at golden hour, Heritage Museums & Gardens, and the quieter bay-side beaches. Closest to Boston for a one-day elopement.

- That's $500 to $800 for someone you met once on a video call, a script that could be about anyone, and a vendor who leaves five minutes after “I do.”
- Some photographers are ordained to sign your license but don't lead a ceremony. You're legally married, but there's no one to guide your vows, tell your story, or make the moment feel like a wedding.

- My Cape Cod elopement collections run $1,800 to $3,800 and include officiating and travel on the Cape. Add the $50 National Seashore permit, your marriage license fee (varies by town, roughly $25 to $50), and dinner somewhere wonderful, and most couples land well under what a single wedding-vendor deposit would cost.
- Full wedding collections start at $5,500. That includes documentary-style coverage of the whole day, an online gallery, and printing rights. Second photographer and Super 8 film are add-ons.
- Yes! It's my favorite venue on Cape Cod. I know the beach, the lawn, the rooftop, and exactly where the sunset hits the Harbor Room windows. I also shoot at The Coonamessett in Falmouth, all over the National Seashore, and at private homes and rentals across the Cape.

- The Cape has moods. For elopements we build a flex window into your date and I keep a list of covered spots. For weddings, your venue's rain plan plus my flash setup means we still get the good stuff.
